Lyle E. Goodnight

Lyle Edwin Goodnight, 88 passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon, Indiana. He was born on January 8, 1928 in Michigantown, a son of the late Lacey Emerson and Doris Irene (Ferguson) Goodnight. He was a 1946 graduate of Lebanon High School. Following high school he served in the Indiana National Guard from 1948 – 1952 Lyle was married at the Mud Creek United Presbyterian Church in Boone County on November 22, 1950, to Rosemary Ellen (Morton) Goodnight. Mrs. Goodnight passed away on April 22, 2007. He had worked for the Monon Railroad as a line crew supervisor. In 1950, Lyle began working for Stewart-Warner Corporation as a heating equipment draftsman until 1969. He then went to work for Faulk and Gardner as a plumbing design engineer, retiring in 1992. Lyle was a devoted husband, father grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, history, baseball and decorating for Christmas. Memberships: First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon Funeral Services are to be held at 3:00 p.m., on Wednesday June 15, 2016 at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Mud Creek Cemetery in Boone County, Indiana. Survivors: Three Children: Les Goodnight and wife, Debbie - Lebanon, Indiana Eric Goodnight and wife, Cindy – Thorntown, Indiana Amy Morrison and husband, Kent – Lebanon, Indiana Three Grandchildren: Casey Reynolds and husband, Craig – Lebanon, Indiana Grant Goodnight and wife, Kerri – Lebanon, Indiana Phillip Morrison and wife, Amber – Lebanon, Indiana Five Great Grandchildren Sister-In-Law: Marjorie J. (Morton) Padgett – Lebanon, Indiana Deceased: In addition to his parents and his wife, Lyle was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Ferguson Goodnight and Cloyd William “Bill” Goodnight; a sister, I. Maxine Goodnight; twins, Barton Nelson Goodnight and Emily Jane Goodnight, and a grandchild; and a great grandchild.
