Age: 78 City of Residence: Thorntown, IndianaDate of death: Wednesday, May 21, 2014Place of death: at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon Robert Lee “Bob” Rhinehart, 78, of Thorntown, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. He was born on May 3, 1936, in Lebanon, Indiana, the son of the late Dorothy Marie (Bradley) Birge and the stepson of the late Charles Birge. He attended Lindbergh and Hattie B. Stokes Elementary Schools. On January 4, 1957, he was married to Margaret A. (McDonald) Rhinehart in Indianapolis, they later divorced. After serving four years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Lake Champlain, the family resided in Indianapolis where he was employed at RCA and also held the position of Captain on the Mickleyville Wayne Township Fire Department. Later in years they moved to Mechanicsburg and then Thorntown where he worked as a heavy machine operator for Aggregate Gravel Company and then retired from CSI.Bob loved the out-of-doors, fishing, camping and golfing. He enjoyed electric trains, watching the Indianapolis Colts and lottery scratch-off tickets. Most of all, Bob loved his family. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.Visitation is planned from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the funeral home in Lebanon.Interment with military rites will follow services at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown, Indiana.
