We are pretty sure that a few weeks ago when our dad got to heaven, God welcomed him with open arms and offered him his heavenly home but Dad said, "If it is alright with you Lord I'll wait. You see, my girl is on her way and she is going to want to make sure it is not yellow or green and that it has a porch with a swing." He always made sure Mom had what she wanted. So he sat up a couple lawn chairs under a shade tree and waited for her to come. He was a great husband but she was just as good at being a wife and she could not wait any longer to get there to be with him. Mom and Dad were married for fifty two years but that does not begin to tell the tale of their love story. When Mom was young, her mother and father had health issues and after her brothers and sisters had married and moved out she stayed home to take care of her parents. Mom and Dad started dating when she was fifteen but did not marry until 13 years later so that she could take care of her parents, they were together for nearly sixty five years. When you think back on the life that Mom lived and try to describe it with just one word, it would have to be "care-giver". Mom took care of everyone, all of her life. She was selfless and kind and loved her family more than anyone could believe possible. Mom was involved in every aspect of our lives, and while as a teenager it could be frustrating; we look back now and understand what a gift her involvement was. She was at every ball game, school program, class trip, class party and she was there to celebrate with us and cry with us when we needed her. She spent hours making cookies for school, helping out at church, hitting us pop flies in the barn lot, and taking care of the home we lived in. She always made sure we had what we needed and tried real hard to get us what we wanted. She was a professional grandchild spoiler. All of the kids knew she was a soft touch and that she and Papaw would get them what they wanted. She was never happier than when she had one of the grandkids on her lap, (and it did not even have to be her grandkid), she could spend hours and hours just rocking babies. She got to meet her first great-grandchildren before she went home, which made her so happy. Mom was sweet and kind but she was also a Nicley which meant she always had to be picking on someone. If you know the Nicley clan you know what I mean. She loved to have fun and play cards and go on vacation, but she was usually most content sitting around a fire in the back yard until late at night enjoying her family. This is a woman who cannot be replaced on this earth. And while this time has been hard losing them both, we are so glad they are together again. We love you Mom and we will miss you. Enjoy the garden as you walk and talk with Jesus. Visitation is planned for Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Pleasant View Church, Highway 32 West, Lebanon, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the church in Lebanon. Interment will follow to services at Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Lebanon. Survivors: Two Children: Jeffrey B. Wolfe and wife, Anita – Lebanon, Indiana Karen S. Copeland and husband, Kevin – Lebanon, Indiana Seven Grandchildren: Matthew Dean Kelsey Davis and husband, Barrett Kasey Copeland and wife, Holley Korey Copeland Nate Wolfe Kailey Copeland Kerry Copeland Special Grandson: Andrew Moon Two Great Grandchildren: Nevaeh Copeland Evelyn Davis Sister: Theda Dickerson Deceased: In addition to her parents and husband, Thelma was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Dean, Brothers Donald Nicley, James Nicley, Frank Nicley, Loren Nicley and sisters Lola Mae Phillippo and Ruth Stafford.
