Anna Mae Powell

Anna Mae Powell, 104, passed away peacefully at Homewood Health Campus, Thursday evening, November 23, 2017. She was born in Clinton County, in Southern Illinois, on September 9, 1913, a daughter of the late John Carl Peter Potthoff and Anna Justina (Gerling) Potthoff. Raised and educated in Southern Illinois, Anna Mae was a 1931 graduate of Centralia High School. On August 11, 1932, she was married to Rev. C. Kenneth Powell in Beaucoup, Illinois. Rev. Powell passed away October 24, 2006. They had celebrated 74 loving years together. Anna Mae was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was a laboratory certified church school teacher, teaching grades K-6 and training teachers for both church school and vacation church school. She was also active in United Methodist Women. Survivors include: Two Children: Charlotte I. Olson and husband, Don – Sun City, Arizona Gary D. Powell and wife, Peggy – Lebanon, Indiana Daughter-in-law: Margaret Sharon Powell – Lebanon, Indiana Eight Grandchildren: Douglas Olson and wife, Celeste – Omaha, Nebraska Mark Olson – Leavenworth, Kansas Eric Olson and wife, Alice – Lake in the Hills, Illinois Darin K. Powell and wife, Sherrie – Plaza, North Dakota Kristin D. Steimel and husband, Shane - Lebanon, Indiana Alissa L. Herbon and husband, David – Zionsville, Indiana Kara J. Powell – St. Louis, Missouri Dana J. Powell – Fenton, Missouri Twenty Great Grandchildren, Six Great Great Grandchildren Several Nieces and Nephews In addition to her parents and her husband, Anna Mae was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Duane Powell; brother, Frederick “Bud” Potthoff; and two sisters, Arlene Potthoff and one in infancy. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 910 Fordice Road, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation is planned from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church in Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Hopewell Cemetery in Boone County. Myers Mortuary in Lebanon has been entrusted with the arrangements.
