Age: 91 Widowed City of Residence: Thorntown, IndianaDate of Death: Monday, April 15, 2013Place of Death: at her home in Thorntown, Indiana Mrs. Barbara Jean Whitinger was born one of six children to the late Chester H. and Blanche (Hester) Crow, on August 7, 1921, in Aurora, Indiana. Mrs. Whitinger was a 1939 graduate of Rossville High School.On August 6, 1944, she was married to Raymond Elvin Whitinger, in Colfax, Indiana. Mr. Whitinger passed away on February 3, 1999. Barbara worked as a sales clerk for Adler’s in Frankfort from 1960 – 1975. For many years, she helped her husband with the family farm. They retired in 1975 and moved to Bradenton, Florida. There, both she and her husband worked for Belks Department Store. When her husband passed away, she moved back to Indiana.A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Mrs. Whitinger enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her interests included quilting, knitting, making cards, and participating in activities at the Thorntown Library.Memberships: United Methodist Church of Thorntown, IndianaFuneral Services are to be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, with Chaplain Gary Scott, officiating.Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Lebanon on Friday, April 19, 2013, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax, IndianaSurvivors: Three Children: Mrs. Suellen M.
