Connie Martin Wells

Connie Martin Wells, 72, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016 at her home in Zionsville. Connie was born on September 8, 1943, to Melbourne and Rosemary Martin. For almost 52 years she was married to Ronald Wells, whom she met while studying at Ball State University. She graduated as Valedictorian of Dover High School in 1961 where she was also a cheerleader, member of the marching band, and a State Officer of Rainbow. While at Ball State, she was a four year honor student in mathematics, and a member of Delta Zeta Sorority (Order of the Rose). After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in 1965, she worked briefly as a teacher, though she spent most of her “career” as a devoted mother to two sons (Darren and Daniel) later working with her husband in their growing business. After marrying Ron in 1964, the couple spent several years outside Indiana before returning in 1980 to Lebanon to be closer to her extended family – always a priority for Connie. She was also a committed supporter and friend to her grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews: Connie loved attending family members’ sporting events and school programs. Connie was a joyous person, always ready to laugh and always focused on making sure everyone was happy and comfortable (unless they were making a mess in her house…). She was a devoted Christian and a woman of uncompromising honesty and integrity. Calling will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., at the Zionsville Christian Church. Funeral Services will follow on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the church in Zionsville. Burial of ashes will follow funeral services at Dover Cemetery in Dover, Indiana. Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana has been entrusted with arrangements. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dr. Ronald G. Wells, her sons and her daughters-in-law Darren and Jackie Wells, Daniel Wells and Susan DeCamp; grandchildren, Reese, Connor, and Katie Wells; her mother Rosemary Martin; her brother and sister-in-law, Melbourne, Jr. and Betty Martin, and many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson Jack Wells and her father Melbourne K. Martin, Sr. Connie loved flowers, and she loved the Zionsville Christian Church. While neither is expected, either flowers or a donation to the church memorial fund would be welcomed.
