Don DeBard

Mr. Don DeBard, 75 years old, passed away on December 14, 2014, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon, Indiana. Don was born on May 1, 1939, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, to the late Leland and Edith (James) DeBard. Don graduated from Dover High School in 1957 where he was very active in sports. He joined the United States Air Force in 1958 and served through 1962 where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He traveled extensively throughout Europe playing basketball for the Island of Crete and for the Lincoln Air Force Base in Nebraska. He was married to JoAnn (Adams) DeBard in 1962. After twenty-five years of marriage, they divorced and he never re-married. Don had been employed with three Ford dealerships until he was employed for Paul Harvey Ford for 20 years as Service Manager. While at Harvey Ford he served on the National Service Managers Council for one year and received many awards for outstanding service for Ford dealers. In his later years, he helped on the farm of Jerry and Jim Randel. He was a member of Dover Christian Church and a life-member of the Elks. He belonged to the American Legion and was a former member of the Eagle Lodge. He enjoyed all sports and especially watching his grandkids play football, wrestling, tennis, baseball, and acting in school plays. Funeral Services will be held at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, on Friday, December 19, 2014, at 11:00 a.m.Visitation is planned from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at the funeral home in Lebanon.Interment with military rites will follow services at Dover Cemetery in Dover, Indiana.
