Donald W. Hitch

Mr. Donald William Hitch, 80, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017, at St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana in Indianapolis. He was born September 28, 1937 in Clinton, Indiana, a son of the late Leland O. and Edna J. (Alkire) Hitch. On August 30, 1959, he was married to Carol Ann (Kincaid) Hitch in Lizton. She preceded him in death on February 26, 1995. He then was married to Jean (Wolfe) Dickerson–Hitch on January 1, 1996, at the New Brunswick Church of Christ; she survives. Don was a 1955 graduate of Lizton High School and a 1959 graduate of Purdue University, earning a BS degree in Ag Engineering. He retired from Rexnord in Indianapolis after 30+ years of employment. Don also worked as a grain and livestock farmer for many years. He was a longtime member of New Brunswick Church of Christ where he held the positions of Elder, Deacon, and Sunday school teacher. Most recently he attended Plainfield Christian Church. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed wood-working in his free time. Survivors: Wife: Jean Hitch – Jamestown, Indiana Children: Diana L. (Doug) Dennis – Lizton, Indiana Todd A. (Tami) Hitch – Lizton, Indiana Donna L. (Dean) Hagan – Lizton, Indiana Daughter-in-law: Jane Hitch – Danville, Indiana Step Children: Debbie (Danny) Jackson – Jamestown, Indiana David (Marla) Dickerson – Carmel, Indiana Dianna (Mike) Ray – Finchville, Kentucky Several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren Sister: Patricia (Joed) Clark – Lizton, Indiana Several Nieces and Nephews In addition to his parents and his first wife, Don was preceded in death by a son, Greg Alan Hitch. Funeral Services will be held at New Brunswick Church of Christ, 6480 State Road 39, in Lebanon, Indiana at 12:00 noon on Monday, October 9, 2017. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the service at noon on Monday. Interment will follow services at K of P Cemetery in Lizton, Indiana. Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon has been entrusted with his care.
