Donald M. Pleasant

Mr. Donald Maurice Pleasant, 71, of Lebanon, passed away on Sunday night, March 27, 2016, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. He was born on February 24, 1945, in Clinton, Indiana, the son of the late Maurice Floyd and Melissa Louvisa Fern (Knoblett) Pleasant. He was the son-in-law of Mary Lou Washler and the late Rev. John Maurice Washler. On December 30, 1972, he was married to Judith K. (Washler) Pleasant at Camp Atterbury in Columbus, Indiana; she survives. Don was a 1963 graduate of Montezuma High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University. Following school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country honorably. Don moved to Boone County in 1978. He retired in 2007 from the Lebanon Post Office where he had worked for 22 years. He was a member of the American Legion and attended the Pleasant View Church in Lebanon. Family being his highest priority, Don was a “hands-on” Poppy to his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and being an amateur astronomer. Funeral Services are planned for Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, with Pastor Tom Evans and Pastor Kevin Pleasant, officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment with military rites will take place on Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. Survivors: Wife: Judith K. Pleasant – Lebanon, Indiana Five Children: Michelle Beard and husband, Mike – Lebanon, Indiana Melissa Todd and husband, Stephen – Lebanon, Indiana Rebecca Belden and husband, Mark – Speedway, Indiana Angela Murphy and husband, Brandon – Lebanon, Indiana Kevin Pleasant and fiancée, Joelle Mandamin – Lebanon, Indiana Fourteen Grandchildren Two Sisters: Diana Herring and husband, Gary – Tuscola, Illinois Pat Bennett – Mena, Arkansas Many Nieces and Nephews In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dave Bennett, and a niece, Donna Flamm.
