Donna M. Hines

Donna Mae (Young) Hines passed away on March 27, 2018 in her apartment at Robin Run Village in Indianapolis. Donna was born on June 21, 1930 in her home near Dover, IN in Boone County to Bert and Cora (Humburg) Young. She married John Keith Hines on June 21, 1953 and the couple raised three daughters near Jamestown. Donna graduated from Dover School in 1948 where she later worked as secretary to the principal. She also worked in the cafeteria at Granville Wells School before becoming bookkeeper for Western Boone School Corporation, retiring in 1987. Donna was a member of Old Union Church near Jamestown where she enjoyed playing the piano and organ, as well as organizing church dinners and bazaars. She and Keith also attended West Morris Street Free Methodist Church in Indianapolis and Pleasant View Church near Lebanon. When Donna and Keith retired, they spent many winters in Florida, attending concerts at Cypress Gardens and local colleges, hosting family and friends in their home, and playing Euchre and other card games with neighbors. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Rose, a brother, Charles, and her husband of nearly 63 years, who passed away May 17, 2016. She is survived by her daughters Esther Bateman (Frank) of Indianapolis; Miriam Lemen (Larry) of Westfield; and Carmen Linne (Bill) of Limestone, TN; four grandchildren: Megan Miller (Chris), Johnson City, TN; Emily Bateman, Portland, OR; Bethany Finney (Tyler), Lafayette; and Brock Bateman, Indianapolis; step-grandson Alex Linne, Boston, MA; and great-granddaughter Maelyn Finney, who was born on her great-grandmother’s birthday. Visitation for Donna will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon, Indiana. Mike Harmon and Donna’s nephew Dr. Sam Young will officiate. Burial will follow at Dover Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dover Cemetery; Pleasant View Church, 5295 West State Road 32, Lebanon, IN 46052; or to Grandview Christian Church, 300 University Parkway, Johnson City, TN 37604. Donna’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Robin Run Village and Brookdale Hospice who provided exceptional care.
