Edith Jeanne Martin

Mrs. Edith Jeanne Martin, 93, formerly of Lebanon, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Thursday morning, April 12, 2018. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska on October 25, 1924, the daughter of the late James Yuen Tuck Chin and Fong Hai Chin. Edith was raised and educated in Omaha, Nebraska where she graduated from Tech High School. In Council Bluffs, Iowa, on January 26, 1944, Edith was married to Dale K. Martin. Mr. Martin passed away on July 29, 2006. She was a long time Boone County resident. In addition to helping her husband on the family farm, she was a cook at St. Joseph Catholic School and had worked at Commercial Filters. She also taught tap dancing and decorated cakes. Edith enjoyed gardening, flowers and sewing. She was a member of Christian Liberty Church, Ladies Aid, and Boone County Home Economics Club (past President). Survivors include: Three Daughters: Patricia “Trish” Martin Bell and husband Michael – Indianapolis, Indiana Barbara Sue Martin Stevens and husband, Larry – Yorktown, Indiana Beverly Martin Orlando and husband, David – Indianapolis, Indiana Nine Grandchildren: James A. (Meredith) Martin– Mechanicsville, Virginia Laura (Troy) Coon– Centennial, Colorado Brandyn (Mark) Ohrvall–Carmel, Indiana Bradley Dale (April) Stevens – Osceola, Indiana Trent (Amy) Bell– Rockford, Michigan Bryan (Maria) Stevens– Yorktown, Indiana Tiffany (Matthew) Stinson– Yorktown, Indiana Dominic (Rachel) Orlando – Carmel, Indiana Joseph (Elizabeth) Orlando – Plainfield, Indiana Twenty Eight Great Grandchildren Brother: William Chin Sisters: Carol Fuksa, Jeannette Roark, Phyllis Chin In addition to her parents and her husband, Edith was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Dale Martin, James Alan Martin; sisters, Evelyn Collatz, Gladys Crane, Delores Chang, Thelma Lew, Annie Chin, Victoria Chin, Betty Fairchild, Grace Chin, Irene Chin; brothers, Ronald Chin, Richard Chin, Robert Chin. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2018, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana with Rev. Keith Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 15, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
