Elva M. Hively

Elva Martha (Hale) Fulwider Hively, affectionately known as Elvie, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at age 79, in Ft. Worth, Texas, surrounded by her family. She was born April 6, 1936, in Kentucky, to the late Delmar and Edith (Owens) Hale. In 1939, at age two, Elva’s parents moved their family to Lebanon, Indiana. She graduated in 1954 from Lebanon High School. For many years, she worked for Boone County Abstract and Title Company while raising two daughters (Lisa and Ronni). In 1984, Elva moved to Roann, In., where she served as the director of the local library for nine years. It was her dream job. She returned to Lebanon in 1993 upon her retirement. She moved to Texas to be near her daughters in 2013 where she resided until her death. Elva was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her quiet loving presence by everyone who knew her. Her love for her family was as fierce as her love of God. She was most content when surrounded by her family “visiting,” playing trivia, and drinking a cup of coffee. She was a traveler too. She took her girls and anyone else who would tag along to trek across the United States on road trips. She loved traveling with other seniors to the casinos. But, her best trip was with her family to Alaska, her dream trip. She grew up in the Assembly of God church and also attended Lebanon Christian Church. She was a member of the Lebanon Senior Citizens. She was especially talented with her hands. Her quilting, crocheting, and knitting skills created many beautiful pieces that are treasured keepsakes to her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkinson’s research, the Epilepsy Foundation, Alzheimer’s Assn., OR to the charity of your choice. Visitation is planned for Thursday, July 2, 2015, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. also at Myers. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon where she will be near her beloved mother and father who preceded her in death. Still alive to share the joy from her life and to mourn her passing are her two daughters: Lisa M. (Fulwider) Smith (husband - Daniel), Ronni R. (Fulwider) Robinette (husband - Bryan), her two granddaughters: Natalie Rene Smith and Hannah Michelle Smith, her sister: Gladys Ketrow and husband, William of Lebanon, her four brothers: Orville Hale and wife, Shirley, Densell Hale, Robert Hale and wife, Nina, and Phillip Hale and wife, April, along with several nieces and nephews and others who considered her a second mom.
