Garland E. Ferrell

Age: 82 Married City of Residence: Lebanon, IndianaDate of Death: Wednesday, September 17, 2014Place of Death: at his home in Lebanon, Indiana Mr. Garland Eugene Ferrell was born on November 8, 1931, in Indianapolis, a son of the late Walter Holt and Vida Estelle (Ping) Ferrell. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Butler University in Accounting. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. In 1953, he was married to Virginia (Funkhouser) Ferrell Hafner in Indianapolis; they later divorced. On December 21, 1968, in Plainfield, Indiana, he was married to Mary Jeanette (Cooney) Peacher Ferrell. She survives. Garland was employed by the Auditor’s Office for the State of Indiana for 38 years. He then moved to the Budget Agency, retiring in 1994. During his employment he received five Sagamore of the Wabash Awards under eight governors. He was also employed by Ivy Tech for four years and served as Boone County Commissioner for one term. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his family, he enjoyed fishing.
