J'Annelle "Ellie" Kerr

J’Annelle “Ellie” Anne Kerr, 62, died Friday, February 28, 2025. Ellie passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved husband, David Allen Kerr; sons, Taylor Joseph (Samantha) Kerr and Dylan Michael Kerr; and her brother, Mark Edward Young. Ellie was born in the US Army Tripler General Hospital, on the island of Oahu, in the town of Honolulu, Hawaii, on July 31, 1962. She moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to live with her grandparents in her early teens. David and Ellie met at Howe High School and after getting her bachelor’s degree in art therapy, at the University of Indianapolis, they married at Linwood Christian Church on August 3, 1985, sharing 40 years together. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Mark; sister, Benita; sister-in-law, Lynette Shewmaker; mother-in-law, Patricia Kerr; father-in-law, Larry Kerr; and several nieces and nephews. Upon the births of Taylor and Sammi’s two children, Tatum Rose Kerr and Griffin Allen Kerr, Ellie quickly became the best “Mamaw” ever. Loving them and caring for them with all her heart. Ellie was preceded in death by her grandparents; mother, Therese Marie Miller; and her older sister, Shaunita Marie. David and Ellie own Quality Control Sales and Services in Indianapolis, working together and taking care of customers in Indiana and several other states. Ellie was a beautiful person, inside and out. She was energetic, involved, giving, loving, and loved. She loved scrapbooking, calligraphy, photography, and making photo albums. Ellie was very artistic, and it could be seen in everything she did, especially her homemade birthday and Christmas cards. She enjoyed reading books and listening to books on Apple. Ellie enjoyed country music, line dancing, playing put-put golf, bowling, and she never missed her kids' football or soccer games. Ellie will be greatly missed by her heartbroken family and friends, gone but never forgotten. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Pastor Frank Everett, Linwood Christian Church of Indianapolis will be officiating. Visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of the services.
