He was the son of the late James Martin and Myra Ellen (Carlock) Carney.In 1950, Mr. Carney joined the United States Army and served as a Corporal during the Korean War where he was stationed in Virginia. On June 30, 1960, in Anchorage, Alaska, he was married to Clara E. (Nelson) Carney. Mrs. Carney passed away on July 31, 2003. [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="342.0"] James J. Carney[/caption] Mr. Carney moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1958 where he worked as an Air Traffic Controller for the Federal Aviation Administration and retired from there in 1974. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1970 at Alaska University. He lived in various cities throughout his life including: New Orleans, Louisiana; Little Rock, Arkansas; Atlanta, Georgia; Monroe, Louisiana; Texarkana, Texas; Bettles and Anchorage, Alaska. From 1978 – 1992, Mr. Carney lived in Medford, Oregon, then he resided in St. George, Utah for about eight years and in 2000, he circled back to Boone County, Indiana where he had resided in Lebanon since.As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather he was proud of his family and enjoyed his grandchildren. For over 50 years, Jimmy and his wife enjoyed square dancing and he enjoyed being the caller for a couple of those years.Memberships: New Brunswick Church of Christ – Lebanon, Indiana Sons of the American RevolutionGraveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Oak Hill Cemetery, 935 East Washington Street, in Lebanon with Jim Coyle, officiating.
