Joan Clarkson

Lois Joan Clarkson, 85, passed away at her home in Lebanon on Friday, November 13, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Vincennes, Indiana on December 18, 1929, a daughter of the late Arthur H. Plass and Clara (Evans) Plass Coy. She was formerly married to Kenneth Ray Clarkson, Jr. and they divorced. At the age of three months, Joan and her family moved from Vincennes to Indianapolis then to Lebanon in 1962 where she had since resided. She attended schools in Indianapolis; graduating from Shortridge High School in 1947. She had attended Ivy Tech where she studied Management. During her working career, she had been employed by Dow Chemical and Commercial Filters. Then in 1981, she went to work at Witham Memorial Hospital at the Outpatient Registration Desk, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a former member of Bethel Baptist Church. Joan enjoyed painting and playing the piano. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always one to do things for others. Funeral Services are planned for 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana. Scott (Darrell Curtis) – Lebanon, Indiana Five Grandchildren: Chandra Freeman and husband, David – Noblesville, Indiana Christie Beach – Lebanon, Indiana Stacia Johnson – Lebanon, Indiana Amy Perry – Jamestown, Indiana Ashley Bell – Avon, Indiana Great Grandchildren: Abigail Johnson Jakob Perry Morgan Perry Blake Perry Zachary Freeman Kiersten Freeman Kaitlyn Beach Braden Beach-Rounder Great Great Grandchild: Dawston Perry Two Sisters: Judith D. McKeen – Lebanon, Indiana Carolyn Sue “Susie” Groce and husband, Ronnie – Clarksville, Tennessee In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Michael Beach and Robert Scott, brother, Robert Plass, three sisters, Ruth E. Stathers, Virginia L. Bernard, Dorothy Burress; brothers-in-law, Thomas Burress, Bill Stathers, Jack McKeen, and Ed Bernard; sister–in–law, Lois Plass; grandson-in-law, Brian Perry, Memorials: Witham Foundation or Kidney Foundation or Charity of the Donor’s Choice
