Joe Carr

Mr. Joe Lenere Carr, 86, of Sheridan, Indiana, passed away early Saturday morning, January 23, 2021 at Wellbrooke of Westfield. He was born March 25, 1934 in Higginson, Arkansas, a son of the late Monroe Windom and Etta Mae “Jimmie” (Smith) Carr. On September 11, 1955, he was married to Betty Illa (Moore) Carr in Searcy, Arkansas; she survives. Joe and Betty moved to Westfield, Indiana where they began their own home framing business, Custom Framing. Over the years, Custom Framing became Custom Concrete and has operated as a family business for over 50 years, serving much of Indiana. Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, a Christian, Bible teacher and Deacon. He enjoyed old car restoration and collecting, woodworking, painting and having coffee with friends. Survivors include: Wife: Betty Carr of Sheridan; three children: Timothy Joe (Sonya) Carr of Sheridan, Thomas Rand (Mary) Carr of Sheridan, Melissa Ann (Brad) Schrock of Carmel; twelve grandchildren: Katie Carr, Sarah (Brandon) Wilt, Ben (Mandi) Carr, Timothy Joe (Sarah) Carr, Jr., Joey (Kylie) Carr, Levi (Bethany) Schrock, Julie Carr, Sally Schrock, Anna (Sam) Gibson, Abbie (Manny) De Ford, Thomas (Christine) Schrock, Rebekah (Drew) Ohman; thirteen great grandchildren: Brittain Wilt, Brooklyn Wilt, Caiden Carr, Dax Carr, Ryleigh Jewell, Audrianna Schrock, Amelia Gibson, Evie Schrock, Oliver Carr, Harvey Carr, Bradley Schrock, Miles Schrock, Alaina Gibson; four sisters, Wanda Brogan of Arkansas, Marquita (Jerry) Moore of Arkansas, Carol Tuminello of Arkansas, Margaret (Sandy) Ray of Arkansas; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a son, James Matthew Carr, and a brother, Frank Carr. Private Family Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana, with Pastor John Vanderwier, officiating. Services will be live streamed on Tuesday beginning at 11:00 a.m. on the Myers Mortuary Facebook page for friends to view. Interment will follow services at the Mts. Runn Cemetery, rural Zionsville.
