(Roach) and John Virgil McCloskey, Sr. John attended Washington High School in Indianapolis and Avon High School in Avon. On January 15, 1949, he was married to Joan Carmen (Walls) McCloskey in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Mrs. McCloskey survives.For thirty-one years, John worked at Allison Transmission Division of General Motors Corp. before retiring in 1981. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he loved his family and took pride in his children and grandchildren. In 1975, John and his wife began wintering in Florida. He was an avid fisherman and he liked to hunt rabbits. In addition in his early years, he enjoyed golden glove boxing, playing semi-pro football and playing softball with the Allison’s team.
