Marcia Canada Bruce

Marcia Sue Canada Bruce died in Denver Colorado on January 14, 2016 after a long and arduous battle with a progressive neurological disorder. She was born March 25, 1954 to the late Betty (Young) and Malcolm Canada. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ruth (Ferguson) and Ralph Canada, Nina (Stanley) and Marion Young as well as her father-in-law Harry Bruce and sister-in-law Kathleen Bruce. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Stephen (Steve) Bruce, three children, Susan, Scott and Katie and her mother-in-law, Patricia (Patty) Bruce of El Paso, TX She is also survived by a brother, J Michael (Conna) Canada of Cullman, AL and sister Carole Ann (Mike) Hoskins of Jamestown, IN. She has a niece, Anne (Steve) Phillips and daughters Sarah and Emma, a nephew Eric (Dawne) Richardson and sons Owen and Evan of Jamestown IN. Another nephew, Chris (Heather) Canada and son Xander and daughter Carmen, live in Cullman AL. A paternal aunt, Sandra Alwine of Lebanon, shared her March 25th birthday. She has a maternal aunt, Leanna (Dick) Jaeger, son Mark Jaeger and daughter Ann Marie Jaeger of Lafayette, IN and David (Gail) Jaeger of Los Vegas, NM and maternal uncle Don Young, of Cullman, AL and daughter Teola (Matt) Partain and children Vivian, Miles and Mason of Kentfield, CA. Marcia was a survivor of the 1965 Palm Sunday tornado because she was with her family in a fruit cellar on their farm near Shannondale. During the summers of 1971 and 1972 she worked at Witham Memorial Hospital in the Medical Record Department. She was a member of Rainbow for Girls where she served as Worthy Advisor of the Thorntown chapter. She graduated from Thorntown High School in 1972, where she was a flag twirler in the Marching Band. She attended Indiana University where she earned a degree in Health Information Management. She ultimately became a Registered Record Administrator. Marcia‘s first career experience was Director of Medical Records in the hospital in Clarksburg, West Virginia. She then moved to El Paso, Texas where she met and married Steve. She continued her career in Health Information Management and they moved to Tucson, Arizona where she worked with Hospice. Immediately prior to her death they lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Visitation will be held at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Private Family Graveside Services will follow visitation at Shannondale Cemetery.
