Michael L. Preuss

Michael “Mike” Leonard Preuss, 69, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born in South Bend, Indiana on August 29, 1951; a son of the late Leonard and Lucille (Harroff) Preuss. He was a 1969 graduate of St. Joseph High School in South Bend. He then attended Vincennes University and transferred to Purdue University, graduating in 1976. Mike was employed with Rostone Corporation in Lafayette from 1977-2005. In 2008 Mike graduated from Ivy Tech as a License Practical Nurse. He was currently employed with Rosewalk Village of Lafayette. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Bend and over the years faithfully attended Catholic Churches that were close to his home. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Lafayette Numismatic Society. Mike enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and antiques. He was an avid sports fan, always cheering on Notre Dame Football, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and the Chicago Blackhawks. He was a kind and considerate man who was devoted to and loved his family with all his heart. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Preuss of Lafayette; children, Teresa Anne (Anthony) Neal of Acworth, Georgia, Rita Marie (Quentin) McGill of Logansville, Georgia, Veronica Collette (Lee) Skiles of Kokomo, Indiana, Robert Michael (Sasha) Preuss of Canton, Georgia; stepchildren, Christy Martin of Lafayette, Joe Martin of Thorntown; eight grandchildren: Alexa Neal, Bryce Neal, Braydon Neal, Josue Requenes, Joselin Preuss, Jonah McGill, Josiah McGill, Aibryl Skiles; one brother, Mark (Debra) Preuss of Angola, Indiana. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 1212 South Street, Lafayette, Indiana 47901. Visitation will begin on Monday, January 11 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Lafayette. Visitors are asked to follow the CDC guidelines, please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Interment will follow services at Cedar Grove Cemetery, located on the University of Notre Dame campus in South Bend, Indiana.
