Patricia L. Day

Patricia L. (McDole) Day, 88, passed away Monday evening, March 27, 2017, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 12, 1928 in Hamilton County, Indiana, the only child of Neva R. (Whelchel) McDole and Charles E. McDole, both deceased. Mrs. Day moved to Lebanon in 1937. She was married to Jack L. Day on July 3, 1949, in the old downtown Centenary United Methodist Church. Mr. Day passed away on October 12, 2000. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1946 and worked for short periods of time at Indiana Bell Telephone and U.S. Machine Corporation. After becoming an LPN, she worked at the old St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, and the Boone County Health Department. She also worked part-time at Triangle Asphalt Paving Corporation, her family owned business. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Lebanon where she taught the three year olds and worked in the Nursery, as well as singing in the choir for many years. Former memberships include the Rainbowettes, Winkle Choir, Zonta, Bes Shrine Guild, and she was a Girl Scout Leader for 10 years. Patty was on the President’s Council of the John Purdue Club at Purdue. She was an active member of Kappa Delta Phi Sorority since 1946; also, belonged to the Red Hat Society, Symphony at Sunset Group and Friends of the Library. She was an avid reader and was very attentive and caring during the other family member’s illnesses. She was a homemaker, but most importantly, a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Survivors include three children; Elizabeth Day (Jim) Lewis, Steven (Taffy) Day, and John (Jeri) Day; five grandsons, Sean (Keely) Lewis, Joshua Day, Christopher Day, Matthew Day and Jack Day; and three great grandchildren, Ethan and Ella Hurlow and Andy Lewis. Also surviving are several cousins. Funeral Services are planned for 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2017, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, with Rev. Anthony Stone, officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 30, 2017, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Lebanon, Indiana. Interment will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.
