Richard Lee Hale

Mr. Richard Lee Hale, 77, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at his home in Zionsville, Indiana. He was born in Hamilton County, Indiana on July 14, 1941, a son of the late Fairy and Ruth Elizabeth (Blazier) Hale-Smith. Richard’s stepfather, Forest O. Smith also raised him. He was married to Marjorie Ann Willis, they divorced and he married Ruth Ellen (Ottinger) Downs-Hutchison; she survives. They shared thirty wonderful years together. Richard attended schools in Hamilton and Boone County. He was a machinist for Standard Lock and Nut in Carmel and then worked twenty-seven years for Allison of General Motors in the Detroit Diesel Division. He retired in 2000. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather he enjoyed his family. He took pride in his children and grandchildren. In addition, he enjoyed fishing, raising rabbits and working on his mini farm. Smith; half-brother, Dwight Smith and a brother-in-law, Jerry Warner. Funeral Services are planned for Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana, with Pastor Darrell Jones officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment will follow at Mts. Runn Cemetery in rural Zionsville, Indiana.
