Sandra K. Copenhaver

Mrs. Sandra Kay Copenhaver, 80, passed away on Friday morning, April 22, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Hamilton County, Indiana, on September 8, 1941, a daughter of the late Robert L. and Beverly B. (Wolfe) Brown. After becoming a single working mother during wartime, Beverly decided it was best that Sandy be raised by her maternal grandparents, Herschel and Esther Wolfe in Boone County. Herschel and Esther’s sons, Stanley, Donald, and Trevor “Max” became much like brothers to Sandy even though they were her uncles. Sandy was a 1959 graduate of Dover High School. On October 10, 1959, at the Pleasant View Church, she was united in marriage to Jack Lee Copenhaver. After 45 years of marriage, he passed away on July 30, 2005. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Boone County State Bank and, for a period of time, served as a cook at Western Boone Jr. Sr. High School. Sandy and Jack enjoyed spending time at their lake cabin in Spencer. They attended Pleasant View Church and were members of Dover Christian Church. In addition, Sandy was a member of the Merry Mixers Home Ec Club and the Garden Club. She was talented in the area of sewing and crocheting, specifically quilting and making scarfs. She was an avid reader and took pleasure in bird watching. She adored spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild, keeping up with all of their activities and sporting events. Survivors include two children, Kathryn D. “Kathy” (Rick) Robertson of Lebanon and Richard S. (Raina) Copenhaver of St. Peters, MO; three grandchildren, Katie Michelle (Chris) Hardwick of Lebanon, Chase Jackson Copenhaver of St. Peters, MO and Brady Douglas Copenhaver of St. Peters, MO; great grandson, Carson Christopher Hardwick; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dover Christian Church, State Road 75, in Dover. Funeral Services are planned for 11:00 am., Thursday, April 28, 2022, at the church. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. Myers Mortuary has been entrusted with her arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Dover Christian Church or Pleasant View Church.
