Shirley E. Dehn

Mrs. Shirley Elaine Dehn, 91, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at her home in Lebanon. She was born in Schenectady, New York, August 16, 1924, a daughter of the late Edgar and Mabel L. (Bradt) Williams. She was a 1943 graduate of Tech High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. On May 18, 1946, she was married to George Walter Dehn in Indianapolis, Indiana; he survives. Shirley had worked as a clerk for the Boone County Clerk’s Office for many years until her retirement in 1988. She was a dedicated and active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lebanon where she participated in the choir, Cursillo and the Altar Guild. She also served as a Sunday school teacher and Lay Eucharist Minister. Shirley was a member of the community choir, the Central Indiana Bicycle Association and was a Boy and Girl Scout Leader. In 1989, she and George volunteered for the Alaskan State Parks as a campground hostess. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Shirley loved her family dearly. She enjoyed poetry, biking, traveling and loved to sing, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Her husband was a driver for the Boone County Senior Services where they enjoyed many trips together. Funeral Services are to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 950 East Washington Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, with Fr. Christopher R. Beasley officiating. Visitation is planned from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2016 and again from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the church in Lebanon. Interment will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana. Survivors: Husband: George W. Dehn – Lebanon, Indiana Four Children: Cheryl “Cherie” Donaldson and husband, Bob – Lizton, Indiana Robert “Bob” Dehn and wife, Carmel – Wasilla, Alaska Barbara “Barbi” Moore and husband, Frank – Lebanon, Indiana Elizabeth “Beth” Rutan and husband, Scott – Indianapolis, Indiana Special Nephew: Johnny Williams – Burlington, Washington Six Grandchildren and six step grandchildren Seven Great Grandchildren and 15 great step grandchildren Several Nieces and Nephews and God Children Deceased: In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Williams, and three sisters, Dot Maxwell, Loraine Boeldt, and Doris Crane. Memorials may be made in her honor to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 950 East Washington Street, Lebanon, Indiana 46052.
