She was born in Boone County, Indiana on December 25, 1916, a daughter of the late Clarence Orville and Ethel (Smith) Sipe.A life-resident of Boone County, Thelma attended Lebanon High School.On October 21, 1933, she was married to Alvin Jacob Allen, in Boone County. Mr. Allen passed away on March 19, 1991.Thelma was a stay at home mom and helpmate on the farm. In addition to helping on the farm, she quilted and sewed for the family. When the girls got older she worked at the Boone County Bank for twenty years, retiring in 1973.She began knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, bead needlepoint and all kinds of crafts, making beautiful things for the family to treasure. She and her husband spent their winters in Florida. After his death, she continued to go until her health deteriorated to the point she didn’t want to travel. She continued to read and work word-search puzzles. She was an avid card player.
