Veatrice Lewis

Age: 95 Widowed City of Residence: Lebanon, IndianaDate of Death: Saturday, October 11, 2014Place of Death: At her residence in Lebanon, Indiana Mrs. Veatrice (Bate) Lewis was born near Morehead, Kentucky, on August 2, 1919, a daughter of the late William Royal and Eva (Stone) Bate. She moved to Indiana at the age of eight and attended schools near Greensburg and later near Vevay. She was married in Madison, Indiana on December 17, 1938, to Roy William “Jack” Lewis. Mr. Lewis passed away on February 25, 2008. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the Plum Creek Baptist Church near Vevay. When Mr. Lewis was called to service, she moved to Thorntown in Boone County to be near her parents. In 1974 they moved to Lebanon where she has since resided. A devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother, she loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed canning, baking and camping in Florida at Lake Wales and Wauchula. In addition, Mrs. Lewis was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Lebanon. Funeral Services are planned for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2014.Entombment will take place the following day at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Boone County.
