Vonda Mae Spray

Vonda Mae Spray, 94, of Whitestown, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at The Hearth at Tudor Gardens in Zionsville, Indiana. She was born in Lebanon, Indiana on August 25, 1922, a daughter of the late Elder Jesse Ermin Poer and Ethel Irene (Elsey) Poer. Vonda was a lifelong resident of Boone County and a 1940 graduate of Kirklin High School. She was married in Lebanon, Indiana, on January 19, 1941, to James Calvin Spray; James preceded her in death in 1981. She had first worked for the Shumate Business Forms. Vonda then worked for Western Insurance for 20 years as a file clerk retiring in 1984. Vonda was a faithful member of the Gadsden Church of Christ for 84 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Vonda enjoyed entertaining and being with her family. As a meticulous gardener, she took good care of her yard and flowers. Spray and wife, Elaine – Whitestown, Indiana Sally S. Newman and husband, David – Thorntown, Indiana Five Grandchildren: Connie McNay and husband, Tom – Thorntown, Indiana James Matthew “Matt” Spray and wife, Sheri – Lafayette, Indiana Adam Spray and wife, Jennifer – Zionsville, Indiana Eric Spray and wife, Ashley – Zionsville, Indiana Seth Newman – Brownsburg, Indiana Six Great Grandchildren: Zoe, Cris, Annabel, Drew, McKenzie and Cameron Sisters: Phyllis McCarty and husband, Donald – Sheridan, Indiana Glendora A. Walker – Lebanon, Indiana Deceased: In addition to her parents and husband, Vonda was preceded in death by a sister, Betty E. Simms; and two brothers-in-law, Russell Simms and Floyd Walker. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana. Funeral Services are planned for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, with visitation from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home in Lebanon with Elder Mike Simms officiating.
