He was born in Zionsville, Indiana on October 5, 1935, a son of the late Miley Martin and Marie Minnie (Wiggam) Smith. Raised and educated in Zionsville, Indiana, Wayne graduated from Zionsville High School in 1953. On August 9, 1980, he was married to Schella M. (Gottfried) Smith at Sue and Al Fields home in Lebanon, Indiana. Mrs. Smith survives. Mr. Smith was a truck driver for Taylor Oil Company for 15 years. He later became a mechanic and worked for various companies such as Pittman Moore and Dow Chemical. He retired from Shell Oil Company on November 22, 1992. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Wayne enjoyed his family and grandchildren. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, hunting and fishing. Memberships: Hope Community Church – Lebanon, Indiana Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon with Pastor Bill Watts, officiating.Visitation is planned from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at the funeral home in Lebanon.Interment will follow services at Hutton Cemetery east of Whitestown, Indiana.
