William E. "Bill" Parkhurst

William E. “Bill” Parkhurst went home to be with the Lord on Saturday afternoon, January 14, 2017. He was born in Alexandria, Indiana, the son of Alonzo and Lefern (Dunn) Parkhurst, on January 12, 1927. He was born one of eleven children living his early years in Alexandria. He served his country during WWII from March 1945 until January 1947. William met and married the late Martha E. Hale Parkhurst on October 22, 1950, they were married 66 years. They had five children, Linda S. Reagan, Triesha S. (Wayne) Abraham, Orval L. Parkhust, and E. Darlene (Mike) Williams, all of Lebanon, and Keith A. Reagan of Thorntown. Bill had twelve grandchildren, Keith A. Reagan, Jr. of Thorntown, Craig (Julie) Reagan, Eric (Courtney) Reagan, Tonya A. (Jake) Hamilton, and Trena A. (Criss) Stoggsdill, all of Lebanon, April (Adam) Landel of Indianapolis, William Parkhurst, III of Lebanon, Amanda (Mike) Lakin of Noblesville, Katie R. Hess, and Jamie A. (Brandon) Brown both of Crawfordsville, Michael F. Williams and Joshua K. Williams, of Lebanon. He had twenty-two great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. As a young man, Bill operated the DX Station in downtown Lebanon. He then went to work for Winkler’s which became Stewart Warner Corp. Bill worked there for twenty-one years when they moved the plant. He then worked for Johnson Engineering and Shell Oil Company, retiring in 1992 due to his health. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed woodworking, working on cars and lawn mowers, or just tinkering in his garage. In addition, he enjoyed gospel and country music. When you met Bill out and about he would be whistling a tune. He had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone he met. Bill was a member of the Assembly of God Church in both, Lebanon and Brownsburg. While at the Lebanon church, he served as song director, bus driver, usher, superintendent and president of the Assembly of God Men’s Fellowship. He later became a member of Glad Tiding and Trinity Chapel. Funeral Services are planned for 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be begin at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment with Military Rites will follow services at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana. In addition to his parents and his wife, Bill was preceded in death by a grandson, Wayne G. “A.J.” Abraham, III; several brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
