Charles "Charlie" Sheets Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Charles “Charlie” Edward Sheets, 73, of Romney, Indiana passed away on April 13, 2022 in Lafayette, Indiana with his wife and family by his side. Born in Lebanon, Indiana on July 24, 1948; to the late Cleon Sheets, Jr. and Juanita Ruth (Brakefield) Sheets. Charlie married the love of his life, Barbara (Taylor) Sheets on August 9, 1980 at Dover Christian Church. He was a skilled mechanic in autobody and paint for 18 years working in Lebanon and Indianapolis. Charlie retired in July of 2010 from YRC Roadway after 27 years of dedicated service. Charlie and his wife enjoyed fishing, camping, vacationing and cookouts with family and friends. They took many trips to Vegas, playing tables and slots. He was at his best with retirement years and did things (as he would say) “Now I do it my way.” Charlie leaves behind a legacy of hard work, humor and kindness. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Sheets of Romney; daughter, Charlene Dawn (Robert) Myers of Orangeburg, South Carolina; son, Charles Edward (Heather) Sheets, Jr. of Lafayette; three grandsons, two granddaughters and five great grandchildren; sister, Judy Ann Cox of Lafayette. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Lee Sheets and a brother-in-law, Jim Cox. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation is Friday, April 15, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Elmwood Cemetery in Romney.
