David Herring

May 24, 1939 - April 2, 2022

David L. Herring, 82, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood in Lebanon. He was born in Marion, Indiana on May 24, 1939; a son of the late William E. and Dorothy Mae (Johns) Herring. David graduated from Marion High School in Marion, Indiana. Following high school, he served his country honorable in the U.S. Army. On July 5, 1958, he was married to Betty E. (Riffey) Herring. She was the love of his life having shared 60 wonderful years together before she passed away on January 9, 2019. David was a service manager for Monroe Systems in Indianapolis for over 30 years before retiring. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon. David was dedicated to his family and a good friend to many. Survivors include his daughter, Sharon S. Herring of Lebanon; three sons, Burnie (Debbie) Herring of Murray, Kentucky, Charles W. (Lou) Herring of Victoria, Texas, and Jerry E. Herring of Lebanon; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brother, Terrence (Pam) Herring; sisters, Violet (Leonard) Tews, Judith Webb, Bonnie (Scott) Swank, and Linda (Dennis) Brown; and sisters-in-law, Artie Herring and Mello Herring. In addition to his parents and wife, David was preceded in death by two brothers, William Herring and Donald Herring; three sisters, Mary Herring, Marilyn Herring, and Donna Herring; and brother-in-law, Raymond Webb. No services are planned at this time. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his care.
