February 5, 1956 - January 11, 2021
Kenneth (Ken) Wethington, 64, of South Florida, passed away January 11, 2021 at his home after a long battle with heart disease. He was born February 5, 1956 to Floyd (KY) Wethington and Barbara Lee Wethington in Lebanon, Indiana. Ken married Nancy (Lenox) Wethington on July 27, 1979 in Lebanon, Indiana. He was employed a few years at Webb Wheel, The Lumber Center, and for 20 years with the City of Lebanon and Lebanon Utilities. He enjoyed working in the great outdoors. His proudest accomplishment was serving alongside his wife Nancy as a Law Enforcement Chaplain for the Boone County Sheriff's Office for five years before moving to Florida in 2014. He served as an Assistant Senior Chaplain during most of that time. His "motto" was Romans 12:1-21. While living in Lebanon, he loved spending time with his stepson, Andrew (Andy) Brannon, his grandkids Haylee and Caleb, and his great grandson Bennett Scott Sanford. His last six years were spent in South Florida enjoying his other stepson, William (Billy Jack) Brannon, his wife Christa and his grandkids, Colton Jack and Bowie Christine Brannon. One of his FAVORITE pastimes was going catfishing with his wife and son K2. His saying was always: "Big Bait, Big Fish", which proved to be true for him as they caught a 52lb, 50lb, and 40lb bluecat and a 30lb flathead catfish. He loved the Lord and had been forgiven much so he always forgave others. Survivors include his wife Nancy; son Kenny Wethington II and Kenny's little support dog, Hope K. Wayne Wethington; sister, Alice French of Lebanon, IN, brothers: Floyd Wethington of Garrett, IN, Steve (Kim) Wethington of Greenfield, IN and James (Jacquie) Wethington of Royal Center, IN; sisters-in-law, Sally Quick of Zionsville, IN and Julie (Jim) Haines of Zionsville, IN; brother-in-law, Dr. Jay (Christy) Lenox of Rockford, IL; nieces and nephews, Donnie Wethington, David Wethington, Nicholas Wethington, Trevor Wethington, Austin Wethington, Devin Wethington, Jeremy Wethington, Laker Andrew Wethington, Jozie Wethington, Paul Dixon, Shawndra and Stevie Tallent; and special niece, Tonia Fortner. In addition to his parents, Floyd and Barbara, Ken was preceded in death by brother, Gary Lee Wethington; his in-laws, Dr. Jack and Mariam Lenox; and brothers-in-law, Charlie French and Ted Quick. Ken wanted to say "Thank you Nancy for sharing your family with me for 41 plus years. I lived a special and beautiful life because of you. Just remember, I love you the mostest. See you there.” and “In lieu of flowers, when you go out to eat buy someone you do not know a meal and don’t tell anyone about it, this will make you feel so good inside. Give your waiter or waitress a big tip, give the hostess who seats you a little tip and the person who cleans up after you. It makes you feel good deep down inside and it will make your heart feel so good. Remember, you can’t take it with you when you leave, so give it away. It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35. He attended Trinity Church International in Lake Worth, Florida. When Ken, Nancy and Kenny2 served as restaurant chaplains at Boynton Beach restaurants, they were able to minister as a family to servers. During COVID, they continued to pray for them, get carry out, of course tip well, and provide chocolate along with a scripture card. Hope to see you all “there.” Proverbs 3:5-6. Funeral Services are planned for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon, Indiana.
