Fitzwater was born in Boone County, east on Ratsburg Road, Lebanon, Indiana, on May 7, 1928, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Elva Esther (McCoy) Denger. A lifelong resident of Lebanon, Mrs. Fitzwater graduated from Lebanon High School in 1947. On January 31, 1948, she was married to James O. Fitzwater in Lebanon. Together they enjoyed over sixty-one years of marriage; Mr. Fitzwater passed away on March 30, 2009. Ilena had worked at Indiana Bell Telephone in Lebanon from 1947 to 1952 and for a period of time, she owned her own ceramic shop in Lebanon. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her family, she enjoyed her friends in the garden club and collecting porcelain dolls. Roger Stroup, officiating.Visitation will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 at the funeral home in Lebanon.Interment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.
