Iva G. Witte

Mrs. Iva G. Witte, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at her home in Lebanon, Indiana. She was born on April 14, 1931, in Boone County, Indiana to the late John William “J.W.” and Ruby Lucretia (Groover) Gibbs. A longtime resident of Boone County, Iva was a 1949 graduate of Kirklin High School. On April 7, 1951, she was married to Owen C. Witte in Lawton, Oklahoma. Mr. Witte passed away on November 13, 1999. Iva was a devoted member of the Advance Community Christian Church. She and her late husband wintered in Okeechobee for many years. Iva had worked as a telephone operator in Elizaville and with Western Insurance Company in Lebanon as a clerk. She loved her family and enjoyed the time spent watching them play sports. In her spare time, Iva liked playing cards, reading, gardening, and watching Colts football and NASCAR races. She was an avid fan of Jeff Gordon. Funeral Services are planned for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Advance Community Christian Church, 2675 State Road 75, in Jamestown, Indiana, with Pastor Steve Vitaniemi. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the church. Interment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana. Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon is entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors: Three Children: Beth Duffey – Greenwood, Indiana Debra Lister – Lebanon, Indiana Charles “Chuck” Witte – Jacksonville, Florida Four Grandchildren: Tom Lister and wife, Sheri – Lebanon, Indiana Brent Duffey and wife, Jenny – Greenwood, Indiana Teresa Burris and husband, Jon – Greenwood, Indiana Samuel Gipson and wife, Tasha – Lebanon, Indiana Eleven Great Grandchildren One Great Great Grandson Numerous Nieces and Nephews Deceased: In addition to her parents and her husband, Iva was preceded in death by two brothers, John Emery Gibbs and William Groover Gibbs; six sisters, Anna Alice Collins, Louise Lucille Gibbs, Virginia Owens, June Richardson, Marguerite Michael, and Luella Jane “Janie” Beck Parks; and one son–in-law, Terry Duffey.
