Jacqueline J. Vivo

Jacqueline Jeanne Urbi Vivo of Whitestown, Indiana passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023, surrounded by her family who loved her dearly. Born in the Philippines on June 17, 1948, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugenio G. Vivo, and her parents Wilfred C. and Gloria B. Urbi. She is survived by her sisters, Ethel A. Urbi, and Gail U. Fule; children, Tiffany (Matt), Wilfred (Angela), Abigail (Shad), and Eugene (Sarah); grandchildren, Nina, Alyssa, Emma, Gabriel, Isaac, Lauren, Blake, Madeline, and Mary; nieces Pamela and Melissa Fule; various cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jackie attended the Philippine College of Commerce where she graduated with honors in Secretarial Science and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce, cum laude. Jackie became a Certified Public Accountant and early in her professional career, she was a travel accountant with American Express in Okinawa, Japan. She was an accounting instructor at the Philippine College of Commerce, and later an accountant at the Asian Development Bank. She continued her career as an accountant at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana, and at the height of her career was controller of St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, Indiana, a position from which she later retired. Jackie resided in Merrillville, Indiana for almost 30 years where she was a parishioner at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and an active member of its choir. At the age of 35 and with 4 young children, Jackie lost her husband, and the love of her life. In 1985, Jackie bravely left everything she knew and immigrated with her children to the U.S. with hopes, dreams, and a vision of a promising future. She was determined to start over, and her only focus was to raise her children to be good, strong, and successful adults. She did this with her sister, Ethel, by her side. Later in her lifetime, her purpose shifted, and she excitedly took on the role of grandmother to her grandchildren whom she spoiled and adored. Jackie is already so missed and this new “normal” will take some time to get used to as she has always been a fixture in her family’s daily lives. She was fiercely loyal to her family and unflinchingly supported each member as they pursued their goals. She instilled a faith and love for God. She taught the value of hard work, perseverance, and never taking anything for granted. She sacrificed tremendously and gave freely of herself to her children and her grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 14, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon, Indiana from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 319 East South Street in Lebanon, Indiana at 9 a.m. Jackie will be laid to rest alongside her parents on Friday at Calumet Park Cemetery, 2305 West 73rd Avenue in Merrillville, Indiana following additional visitation at the cemetery chapel from noon until 2:00 p.m. CST. Jackie was a devoted Catholic and she donated regularly to various Catholic charities and organizations. The Little Sisters of the Poor, a charity to whom Jackie frequently donated, was founded by Jeanne Jugan to care for the impoverished elderly.
