He was the son of the late Edward Merton and Emma Mae (Kesler) Pierce.Jim attended Shortridge High School in Indianapolis. After school he joined the United States Navy and served his country for twenty-one years, retiring in 1972 as a Chief Petty Officer.On September 7, 1974, in Indianapolis, he was married to Luella Mae (Perkins) Pierce. Mrs. Pierce survives.After retiring from the navy, Jim moved back to central Indiana and worked for Allison Transmission in Speedway. He then worked for Thorntown Elementary school as a maintenance supervisor for 14 years. For the last 15 years he was the property manager in Lebanon for Professional Properties.A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Jim enjoyed his grandchildren and camping with his family as well as the Royal Ranger ministries. For 35 years he participated in Boy’s Ministries and for ten years he was the state/district commander.Memberships: Lighthouse Baptist Church – Lebanon, Indiana Frontier Camping Fellowship for 35 years Royal RangersFuneral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon with Pastor Merv McNair, officiating.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the funeral home in Lebanon.Interment with military rites will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana.Survivors:Wife: Mrs. Luella M.
