James Edward Wethington

James Edward Wethington, 88, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, at his home in Indianapolis. He was born October 26, 1935, in Clementsville, Kentucky, a son of the late James Herman and Mellie Ceclia (Wethington) Wethington. On August 28, 1961, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Joan (Irwin) Ford Wethington in Lebanon and later divorced in 1978. James is a 1955 graduate of St. Benard High School in Clementsville, Kentucky. At the age of 18 he moved to Lebanon and began working. He worked for Lebanon Canning Factory, J&L Steel (bucket factory) and was a supervisor in manufacturing furnaces and air conditioners at United Technology Carrier in Indianapolis. James held a membership with the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2062 in Lebanon and also was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and camping. Above all, James loved being with his family. He is survived by his two daughters, Tina Marie Wethington and spouse Kara Tanner of Carmel, Cynthia “Cindy” Lynn and spouse Eric Harrison of Crawfordsville; two stepdaughters, , Maria Joan (Larry) Garrett of Lebanon, Jama Susan (James) Delaney of Lebanon; one stepson, Robert Michael Ford of Louisville, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Nicole Marie Bennington, Stephen Douglas Bennington, Seth Harrison; five step great grandchildren; brother, Jackie Andrew Wethington of Adair County, Kentucky; and two sisters, Eula Mae Buck of Campbellsville, Kentucky and Anna Marie (Jr.) Holmes of Campbellsville, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Lynda Darlene Smith; son-in-law, John Smith; granddaughter, Jessica Smith; brother, William Otho Wethington; and sister Becky Lovett. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with The Rosary beginning at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Myers Mortuary. Funeral Services are planned for 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. James will be entombed at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown following services. Memorials may be directed to the Indiana Blind Children’s Foundation, 7725 N. College Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46240.
