Leo Wines

Master Sgt. Daniel Webster Leo Wines, 85, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana. The second son of the late Loral and Rosie L. (Cory) Wines, he was born in Lebanon on November 12, 1932. Leo had attended Lebanon Schools. On August 19, 1962, he was married to Tina (Hoogeveen) Wines in Lebanon; she survives. He began working for Eagle Creek Nursery and was then drafted into the U.S. Army for three years. While in the Army he enlisted in the U.S. Marines for four years. After the U.S. Marines, Leo worked for Stewart – Warner and enlisted in the National Guard for three years. He then worked for EZ Rake and enlisted in the Air Force Reserves, serving 28 years. Leo’s love for serving our country was proven with numerous years in the military. He was stationed in Korea, Alaska, Okinawa, Philippines, Italy, England, Germany, Scotland and Turkey. He retired after 34 ½ years in the service with rank, Master Sergeant. Leo was a member and past president of the Eagles, VFW, and American Legion. In addition, he had attended Lebanon Bible Baptist Church. He enjoyed being with family, collecting model cars and coins. Survivors include: Wife: Tina Wines – Lebanon, Indiana Children: Garry Wines-Whitestown, Indiana Monica L. Wines- Lebanon, Indiana Barbara C. Payne-Lebanon, Indiana Judy A. Aldridge- Lebanon, Indiana Ten Grandchildren Twenty Four Great Grandchildren Sister: Pamela R. (Steven) Hinton – Lebanon, Indiana Sisters-in-law: Alice Wines – Lebanon, Indiana Wanda Wines – Lebanon, Indiana Peggy Wines – Lebanon, Indiana Pat Wines – Thorntown, Indiana Several Nieces and Nephews In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl E. Wines, Jackie D. Wines, L. Charlie Wines, James A. Wines, and Robert E. Wines, Sr.; one sister as an infant, sister-in-law, Donna Wines, and one grandchild, James Ruckle. Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Funeral Services are planned for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment will follow service at Lincoln Memorial Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the charity of the donor’s choice.
