He was born a twin and one of eleven children to the late Jasper Cleo and Frances Lillian (Frost) Merriott on January 25, 1937, in Lebanon, Indiana. A life-resident of Lebanon, Mr. Merriott graduated from Lebanon High School in 1953. Following high school, he joined the United State Army. In the army, Ron worked as a medic and served his country honorably.On February 13, 1971, he was married to Donna Lea (Yeazel) Merriott, in Catlin, Illinois. Mrs. Merriott survives.Mr. Merriott was a firefighter, first volunteering for Center Township Fire Department for four years and then working full time for the Lebanon Fire Department for twenty-two years where he retired as Lieutenant. He also worked part-time for Russell & Hitch Funeral Home in Lebanon.Ron was a dedicated family man. He enjoyed collecting coins and fire department memorabilia.Memberships: Charter member of the Lebanon Christian Church in Lebanon Boone Masonic Lodge # 9 F. & A. M. in Lebanon O.E.S. # 23 in Lebanon Scottish Rite in Indianapolis Knights of Pythias in Thorntown Funeral Services are planned for Monday, May 13, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, with Rev. Lee Faust and Rev. Harry Pitts, officiating.Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2013, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Lebanon with Masonic Rites beginning at 5:30 p.m.Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.Survivors: Wife: Mrs. Donna Merriott – Lebanon, Indiana Two Children: Mr. Thomas H.
